aug-2000 Reward to the best from Argentina in Internet - Category: Tourism

"To a click distance. What's happening to the Argentineans? We are crazy… of happiness. Since Argentina On View marked its territory in the net of nets, a lot of people could visit Argentina, at least, through a site. It offers important information about the country and it includes photos of each province, transports' data, and everything what a future tourist wants to know about the place that he is going to visit. Besides, a lot of information, it is easy to use and it has quite an attractive design, that makes it popular from the first moment. So a question appears. What does an Internet user want? Obviously, to find what he looks for: In Argentina on View this requirement becomes easy. Its strict division by provinces makes the search too simple for everyone. To go on a trip, Argenitnaonview, to stay… too"

"Outward Journey . Some managers not only coincide with Aboitiz about that it is necessary to think it very well before loosing money in an investment, but they prefer to be self made men, at least for some time, and avoid to be tempted by commitments with investors, that are very difficult to satisfy in the short term. That is Rubén Baez's case, CEO of Argentina On View, who approached to tourism online, starting from a solid financial economic foundation. He says that for a couple of years he has been thinking in doing something in internet. The original idea appeared at the beginning of 1999. He wanted to start with something, that at first depended on him, and that later on it became a business. He says "the incubators don't convince me and I don't plan to take my project to any". He makes it clearer: "I want the portal holds back the biggest quantity of months, depending on our own effort. Then, perhaps we will look for investors, or they will look for us, but the idea is to chose the type of investor. We want a long term one, if it is possible, a foreigner, neither speculative nor opportunist. In other words we want to be within the 5 or 10% of the Internet projects that will survive". Up to now the site has invested between U$S 200.000 and U$S250.000. Baez says that if he had the money, he wouldn't know if he would invest a million and a half or two million in advertising. He believes that he would invest a smaller quantity, and he adds he would prefer to invest in technology and contents."
