"Calle Angosta" XV National Festivity. January 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th, 2001 - Villa Mercedes - San Luis

The "Calle Angosta" has become an identification symbol from Villa Mercedes City. Starting from Alfonso and Zavala's basin a singular place has been gestated and it has regional, national and international importance. The "Calle Angosta" Festivity arose as a consequence of this significance, as well as to the love to the national music and particularly to Cuyo's music. During the last years an important quantity of national and regional artists have met there. The whole Villa Mercedes town and a special commission are in charge of organizing the XV celebration after being successful in the 14ths previous ones, they are ready to offer to their fellow citizens and to thousands of visitors, a place full of healthy entertainment and knowledge about our deepest traditions.

It is called "Festivity", so, it indicates that it is not simply a festival, but a cultural event too. New singers arise every year, thousands of children meet and perform on the Alfonso and Zabala stage.

At the same time, there are other important events such as the handcrafting's fair, the "peñas", and sport and cultural activities. All of them prepare the proper atmosphere for the whole celebration. Finally, when it was regarded as "National Festivity", Villa Mercedes got a worthy reward.

The whole activities, the cultural event in itself, and the people's mobility, cause that the "Calle Angosta" National Festivity, exceeds the limits of a festival. Its influence area is a very wide one, since it doesn't only include San Luis Province, but it extends to Mendoza, Córdoba, La Pampa and Buenos Aires Provinces. The best national folkloric singers, dancers, etc, can be seen there. During its XV-2001 celebration, it will be possible to listen to "Los Tekis", "Luciano Pereyra", "Soledad", "Los Alonsitos", "Abel Pintos", "Zamba Quipildor", "Horacio Guaraní", "El Chango Nieto", "Las Cien Guitarras", etc.

The XV celebration will be carried out according to the following chronogram:

· Launching: There will be a national one, in Buenos Aires City, Córdoba City, and in other towns.

· Preliminary Activities:

• "La Calle Angosta nos Convoca" Interprovincial Writer's Meeting.
• Callecita Angosta.
• Illustrious Godfather's Festival.
• Tango's National Meeting.
• Pre Calle Angosta.

· "De la Calle Angosta" National Festivity: January, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 2001. There are simultaneously a Handcrafting's Fair and fast food stands.
Stand: Along the "Calle Angosta", there are crafts' exhibitions and fast food stands; they are located on strategic places..
