The Snow National Party that is carried out in Bariloche
( http://www.visitbariloche.com ) uninterruptedly for 30 years up to now, is one of the most important national events that joins the natural beauty of the famous ski center with a program of activities and shows of first level. This year the program will begin on August 18th with the usual brands slope, and the fireworks at the Catedral Hill ( http://www.365milenio.com.ar ), and from that moment up to the end, there will be amusements for tourist and local people too. The party produced by WAM Entertainment Company, will have the support of the National Tourism Secretary ( http://www.sectur.gov.ar ) Río Negro Province
( http://www.rionegrotur.com.ar ), San Carlos de Bariloche Municipality and of important local entities, and their sponsors will be LIMPET, Telefónica, Nec, Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, Artear Canal 13 and Millennium Radio. The last two, will offer a complete television and broadcasting covering respectively. There is no doubt that the Snow National Festival 2000 will be an excellent event that will show the best from our country and their people

In spite of the fact that time is passing, nobody can deny that the snow, was one of the main characters that contributed to Bariloche's development

At the beginning of the decade of the 30's, the beautiful city of San Carlos de Bariloche began to extend towards the hillsides that surround it. When the first snowfalls appeared, the small town didn't hibernate, on the contrary, its people began to carry out several winter activities.

In 1944, the winter sport activities were centralized at Catedral Hill, so as to achieve a coherent organization of the city and to offer a good image to the national and international tourism. Ten years later, the National Parks together with Bariloche's neighbors organized the first snow festivity, with the presence of the ski world champion Stein Eriksen. In 1971 the National Executive Power determined by ordinance that San Carlos de Bariloche would be the headquarter of the First National Snow Festivity.

Later, in 1979, the Tourism Undersecretary declared Bariloche as a permanent seat of the event, that would be carried out annually. From that moment onwards, the festival was incorporating new shows, celebrations and competitions, the most well known ones are: the "Bajada de Antorchas", the "Concurso de Hacheros y Hacheras", the "Carrera de Mozos", the "Concurso del Pullover", the "Fiesta del Chocolate", and the choice of the Snow National Queen.

The celebration comes to an end with the winner's parade, fireworks and a nautical show on Nahuel Huapi's waters.

The Queen's Choice

This year the candidate's anxiety is better justified than ever, because the winner's life will change completely. Besides a lot of prizes granted by the sponsors, she will become a member of the staff of Ricardo Piñeiro's models. The contract will be signed in the same celebration. The final election will be carried out by a jury who have to consider not only their physical characteristics, but also the intellectual and cultural ones. During the final celebration, a lot of well known artists and singers will participate such as : Soledad, the Chalchaleros ( http://www.loschalchaleros.com.ar ), Fito Páez, Los Pericos, Diego Torres, Era and Lito Vitale, etc.
